Changes of zeitgeist
Zeitgeist is a specific mood and spirit of the century, not only of the century but of some period of time. It is important to know that zeitgeist is usually reflected in the literature, music, art, philosophy and other cultural aspects of the century. Taking a good look at those times and monuments of those times will give us an opportunity to realize the differences between zeitgeists.
At first the literature of the world was represented as the rock paintings. People reflected in those rock paintings the world according to their vision of this world. There were no words, there only were paintings and the mood of those paintings was reflected with the help of colors. For example red color was a color of danger and so the color of the most dangerous animals.
Black color was a color of sadness. With this color ancient people expressed their sadness and frustration. Say, there is a man who was killed at hunting. In this case the animal that was hunted will be painted in red color and the dead man will be painted in black color. In case if his family is also painted on the rock those also will be in black colors as a symbol of their regret.
Today there are no rock paintings and feelings are expressed with the help of words. Authors create their books and with the help of words express everything they want express. Though, modern literature is a way different from the literature of say eighteenth century. Characters are changed, ideas are changed and the foundations books express are also changed.
